How many times have you listened to an old song on your iPod and it instantly brings a memory or image from the past back? You listen to Bohemian Rhapsody and it reminds you of rocking out with friends in a car during a road trip. Or you play Laidback Luke and it feels like your right at the front of the stage again. Everyone associates music with a memory or an image. Here are some of the songs that do this for me and what they mean to me:
Dog Days Are Over ft. Gilbere Forte (Yeasayer Remix)
Memory: Cruisin down the streets of South Tampa going out for the night, getting our hungover breakfast in the morning, enjoying life. “They say we better run, nah we better hide”
Time of Our Lives – Paul Van Dyk
Memory: Driving over the first bridge to Boca Grande in the middle of the day with the crystal blue water underneath us
Love Lockdown (LMFAO)
Memory: RAGING Sophomore year of college. Blasting this song in a blue cobalt with big bass! And of course…the LMFAO concert.
Memories – Kid Cudi (David Guetta FMIF Mix)
Memory: Best friends on the dancefloor
Dice – Finley Quaye
Memory: High school
Add Suv – Uffie Ft. Pharrel (Armand Van Helden Mix)
Memory: Gasparilla after party rage time!! Oh and that night ended well… haha
So here are just a few of my favorite songs, but the main thing about these songs is that they are what I call “Feel Good” songs. Even if I’m having the worst day ever, these songs will make feel great! I’m sure all of you have those kinds of songs too.
Music therapy can cure just about anything.
