{ELECTRONIC POP} Monarchy – Maybe I’m Crazy + Others

Monarchy
. Who are they? Well they didn’t even announce who they really were until about a year ago in January 2010. They were this mysterious synthpop British duo that no one really knew about. Now they’re getting some larger recognition. They are now signed with Island Def Jam Records. Most recently Monarchy has done collaborations with Benny Benassi, Ellie Goulding, and Kelis. I’m a huge fun of these guys right now. Their songs have that electro feel to them and the vocals are amazing. Check out some of their stuff:

FUN FACT: Monarchy was the first band to broadcast a live show into outer space from Cape Canaveral.

{HOUSE} SHM – Every Teardrop is a Waterfall (Exclusive BBC 1) + Calvin Harris, An21/Max Vangeli

The hyped up Swedish House Mafia mix of Coldplay‘s “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” premiered this past Friday on Pete Tong‘s BBC Radio show. The trio has been playing the mix at events for about a month now, and people have been dying for it to be released. Other premieres on the show included Calvin Harris‘s “Feel So Close”, succeeding his previous singles this year “Bounce” and “Awooga”. This one’s got more of the “Awooga” feel, but with some vocals in there, which is what I think most people think “Awooga” was missing. And also, the show premiered AN21 and Max Vangeli‘s “People of The Night”. Download all from links below:

{HOUSE} Arty – Around the World

I stumbled upon this guy just googling along and checking out different blogs yesterday. He’s beat is a true house sound. He is signed to label “Anjunabeats“, the same label that has DJs Above & Beyond signed. Besides them the label does not really have any big name artists. I have a funny feeling that this young guy Arty is about to blow up soon. Did I mention he looks like he’s 12. Swedish House Mafia played this song in their set at EDC about 2 weeks ago. General rule of thumb is: if those 3 like it, it’s going somewhere. (Also, ran to the song this morning…great song to run to.) I would try to leave you one to download, but it was really hard to find a copy online; meaning they’re probly trying really hard to keep this from leaking with getting paid. (but…if you wanna download just google the name and artist of the song and “zippyshare” next to it. Or buy it on iTunes. Enjoy:

{ELECTRONIC/DANCE} Martin Solveig – SMASH (feat. Dev)

Today I bring you a new single released by Mr. Martin Solveig who took the world by storm this past year with “Hello” (feat. Dragonette). Martin Solveig was not a very well known DJ/producer for many years, but his style seems to have caught the interests of electronic music lovers everywhere. My good friend went to Ultra this past March and watched him play his set, which I then listened to online later, and it was AWESOME!

Anyways, now Martin brings us “Smash” feat. Dev. It seems that when Martin pairs up with the chicks things go well for him…

{MEMORY LANE} Songs That Mean Something

How many times have you listened to an old song on your iPod and it instantly brings a memory or image from the past back? You listen to Bohemian Rhapsody and it reminds you of rocking out with friends in a car during a road trip. Or you play Laidback Luke and it feels like your right at the front of the stage again. Everyone associates music with a memory or an image. Here are some of the songs that do this for me and what they mean to me:

Dog Days Are Over ft. Gilbere Forte (Yeasayer Remix)

Memory: Cruisin down the streets of South Tampa going out for the night, getting our hungover breakfast in the morning, enjoying life. “They say we better run, nah we better hide”

Time of Our Lives – Paul Van Dyk

Memory: Driving over the first bridge to Boca Grande in the middle of the day with the crystal blue water underneath us

Love Lockdown (LMFAO)

Memory: RAGING Sophomore year of college. Blasting this song in a blue cobalt with big bass! And of course…the LMFAO concert.

Memories – Kid Cudi (David Guetta FMIF Mix)

Memory: Best friends on the dancefloor

Dice – Finley Quaye

Memory: High school

Add Suv – Uffie Ft. Pharrel (Armand Van Helden Mix)

Memory: Gasparilla after party rage time!! Oh and that night ended well… haha

So here are just a few of my favorite songs, but the main thing about these songs is that they are what I call “Feel Good” songs. Even if I’m having the worst day ever, these songs will make feel great! I’m sure all of you have those kinds of songs too.
