[Indie/Alt Rock Overload] Feel Good Tunes for Your Feel Good Summer

Image

I think we’ve had enough of the electronic music for a little bit…so I figured it’s time to change it up a little. In the summer there is a time to rage, and a time to chill. We all know this.

Sometimes you just need that slower beat song that just makes you ‘feel good’. It’s that moment when a song comes on and you instantly become happy. For me it’s one of the most powerful things music can do for you. Music has the ability to completely change one’s mood. Especially when it is associated with an experience or image in your mind.

Some of you might have heard some of these bands and some you may have not. I try and keep up with as many new bands as I can, but it’s much harder than keeping up with the EDM scene, believe me.

So…sit back…chill…and relax to your summer:

Symptoms – Atlas Genius

Hollywood (feat. Penguin Prison) – RAC

This Head I Hold – Electric Guest

MY FAVORITE RIGHT NOW:
Venice – Lighthouse & The Whaler

Harvest Moon – Poolside (Neil Young cover aka: my dad would love this)

Nunca – Trails and Ways (another favorite!!!)

Take A Walk – Passion Pit (a classic)

Lakehouse – Of Monsters and Men (fitting for my summer)

Bushwick Blues – Delta Spirit

It’s Time – Imagine Dragons (wins the award for ‘Best Feel Good’)

Sweater Weather – The Neighbourhood

Lovers Carvings (Bruno Be & Eddie M Remix) – Bibio

Raconte-Moi Une Histoire – M83 (this could easily be the weirdest one, but I still like it)

And always saving the best for last:

Trembling Hands – The Temper Trap

Hope you enjoyed the songs!!

{INDIE/ALT} M83, Grouplove, Miike Snow, Naked and Famous, Young the Giant, and +

I’ve been away from the music blog for a while and instead of going all electro/house music on my first post back I thought I’d try my indie and alternative rock roots for a change. I have to say I have kind of forgotten about them for a while, but while I was on the road with the opportunity to listen to everything and anything I have re-established my love for this genre. Sirius-XM radio is truly God’s gift to traveling music nomads. Plus, these tunes fit the mood of the season more so anyways. So here are just a few of my favorite tunes from the road:

Of Monsters and Men – Little Talks

Atlas Genius – Trojans

Young the Giant – Cough Syrup

The Naked and Famous – Punching In a Dream

Grouplove – Tongue Tied

Miike Snow – Devil’s Work

M83 – Midnight City

Angus and Julia Stone – Big Jet Plane (Stern* Disco Edit)
